Where is The Hollies' original drummer today? Does he regret leaving just as they were on the brink of big success? Does he still play?

Excuse all the posts today! I'm new here, & I'm enjoying reading this forum.

I think there is some more up to date metion of him on hollies.dk

BTW He didn't leave the group as such, he was asked to leave the group because he really wasn't up to the standard.

Though Vic Steele chose to leave, I believe?

A sort of 'Pete Best', eh? He sounds pretty good to me on those early records, though certainly not up to Bobby's standard.

Indeed... I think everyone on this forum would agree with me that Bobby Elliott is in a class of his own as a drummer... definitely one of the very best and certainly (like Tony Hicks' guitar work) very under-rated!

Definately! Even back in the very early days when they were mainly doing R&B & pop covers The Hollies were in a class of their own. Everything about them - whether Bobby's drumming, Tony's playing, Alan & Graham's singing & (yes) Eric's bass playing just outclassed almost everyone in site. There wasn't a weak link in the group.

I have to agree. When I first heard "Bus Stop", the thing that stood out for me was Bobby's drumming.

Didn't Don Rathbone drive the tour bus? If so, after he was sacked, who did the driving? Eric Haydock?

Presumably they could afford a proper driver / roadie by then...

I have read that Ron Richards wasn't very pleased with his drumming and it was decided that the group should have a new drummer, I feel that his drumming is weak. So Tony suggested that Bobby should join and I agree he is brilliant and should get more credit for his playing. After Don was sacked he worked for them as a driver/tour manager for how long I don't know, it would be interesting to find out what happened to him and what he is doing now.
