Hi Rob
I just want to say that I love the new look forum. It looks great and I like the colour scheme you chose.
Keep up the great work you are doing with the forum and the website.
Best Wishes

Hi Rob,
Afraid I have to disagree with Susie. I think the colour scheme is awful, but don't be downhearted - my wife has always said I have no taste!

Well
Come on folks. What are your views
Do you like it or not. What is good - what is not so good
Still not yet quite how I want it but will be working on it over the next few weeks
Let me know what you think |

I agree with Terry - and he must have tatse if he likes the Hollies! I find the biggest problem is that it is difficult to distinguish between the icons for new and old posts! The rest of the new website is brilliant though. |

Well you have to get used to it but I think it looks good. I also like the colors but just like KP I find it hard to see what are the new posts (well apart from the date ). |

Yes, me too. I am working on that at the moment trying to change the images.
Keep watching |

Just to add that I think the new look Forum is great, as is the whole revamped website. I think you have done a wonderful job, Rob. I've even discovered how to add an avatar. I'll find out in a few seconds if it has worked! |

To use John's words Rob, you are doing a wonderful job and I think the forum looks great (red is my favourite colour). I also have found it easy how to reply or send a new post. I must admit though that I have to look at the date to see if there are any new post.

Just noticed the N for new posts - that's much clearer now. Thanks Rob. |

Sorry, I don't like the graphics. The band logo is undistinguished, the colors look like Neopolitan Ice Cream. What about using one of the lettering styles that have actually appeared on an album or single? As for colors, I think green is an obvious choice, like "Distant Light", or a stark black & yellow design, a la the US Epic records. It should look like something recognizable as The Hollies we know. |

The colours are shades of Red and Green (Hollies) and fit in with the overall look of the site and is designed to be simple and easy on the eye.
I think those aims have been achieved without being over the top, too garish or too complicated.
I personally cannot think of anything worse than "a stark black & yellow design". It would not be easy to read and would play havoc on the eyes when reading for any length of time.
The logo is exactly what it is, a logo, and is not meant to be a crystal clear 10x8 shot.
Images should not overpower a page and by necessity have to be relatively small as not everyone is on broadband and can handle large pages opening at slow speeds. |

I am an Artist and worked steadily as a Graphic Designer for 7 years, so what I say has validity. I restate what I said; it looks like neopolitan ice cream with some mint on the side. The band lettering or logo, whatever it is, looks like it took about 20 seconds to create. There is not a professional look to the site, no matter what your rational may be. Sorry for the harsh criticism, but you asked. |

If you want to see a site that has primarily stark black and white graphics with some splashes of color, look at The Posies' official band site. It is not hard on the eyes at all. It looks sharp. |

Sorry Dennis, The Posies site is not good to me.
It is very much like music, everyone has differing tastes and what is good for one is not for another.
Some love the look of the site and some do not. I cannot please everyone all of the time but each to his own.
Not being an artist, I do not go too deep into things and I like the way the new site looks at the moment so it will stay that way.
Besides, I also love neopolitan ice cream. |
