Just got in from the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield. Never been there before - even though its only 20 minutes away. Its a relatively small venue but nice.
The Hollies were sensational. The best I've seen for ages. The last time I saw them was at Pennington's in Bradford which is really a night club, and it was disappointing because the atmosphere was not right, and it was a short set.
Tonight the atmosphere was superb - the audience was really enthusiastic (which is unusual around here) - and the band were clearly enjoying it.
All the favourites were played and all sounding as fresh as ever.
It was interesting to hear some of the audience's comments as they were leaving. Terrific, amazing, sensational were the words going round, and clearly from people who were not Hollies nuts like us.
Anyway, it was a great way to spend my birthday. Hope you all get to see them sometime on this tour. |
