Would like to hear from anyone who saw The Hollies on tour in 1973 in Australia when Mikael Rickfors was in the band. Please describe the show, who sang lead on what songs, etc. Anything that you can recall. Thanks. |

This was a very interesting period for the band, I too would like to hear any concert-goers reactions.

Yes I was at their Adelaide concert
He truly is an amazing singer.
He did a brilliant job in Allan's absence. His voice is deeper & richer, as you can tell from "The baby" . Love it !
Did not disappoint, I can tell you.
A few members replaced allan on lead vocal , & it worked well.
I guess with Allan available for return, the original Hollies sound was restored though.
I wonder what he is doing now ? |

If you mean what Mikael is doing now? He released a new album last year and is playing with the Grymlings (sp?) a Swedish folk supergroup.
Mikael has been a very busy man since leaving The Hollies. He released a lot of solo albums and, in fact, played in London a couple of months ago.
Apparently he was surprised recently to learn that The Hollies are still going...

When did he play in London? That would have been worth catching! |

Some Swedish music night apparently but I have read that he intends playing in England himself. If I manage to find out the dates, I'd probably travel to see him.
Any Swedish people on these boards?
I read recently that Mikael has a daughter called Leakim, he spelled his own name backwards!

Keep us informed if you find out any dates, Michael. I'd be keen to see one of his gigs. |
