Anything without Allan Clarkes involvment will be doomed to fail, don't waste your time lads 'cos I ain't interested.
Must be plenty of live material and unreleased stuff out there for the fans.
New material from a tribute band has no commercial value surely........??

I can't believe some of what I'm reading. Over the last couple of years the band has been slated and a lot of people whinging and moaning that they have not released anything new. Now there seems to be a strong possibility that a new album will be released and people are still whinging and moaning! They can't win, can they?

They could win if Clarke and Hicks got together to do something.

If you want, we can call our next CD "The Hollies sing the Bleechers" and then you can send me $15 (or the equivalent) and you'll have the "Hollies" CD that you want. Wink

I think it is true that people have moaned and whinged, Chig, myself being one of them. There have just been so many missed opportunities with Clarke and Carl and Alan C that it's almost too little too late. Crying or Very sad

Yes, they have missed making an album with Clarke again and they've wasted the chance of recording with Carl but I don't think that's it's too late! As I said I'm really looking forward to a new album if it happens. What I just hope, beside some more rocking material, is that they write at least some of the songs themselves, which is not too much wanted I would say. An all cover/outside material album would be, at least at first sight a deep letdown but I would even be glad about such an album if it's an Ok album or even a good one! But as I said... hopefully (preferable) Tony, Peter or Ray contribute some songs... I can just say it again: It's not that hard to write a song... so just sitdown and do so. I know that you can (yes I look at you Tony Exclamation ).

I agree with you Chig. Some people just aren't satisfied, Mad they whinge when the band don't do anything and still whinge when they do. Mad

I also agree with you too Distantlight, it would be lovely to see the guys come up with their own self-written original material but even if they don't that will be O.K. provided they come up with material worth listening to (as I'm sure they will). I did read somewhere (the profiles I think) that Peter and Steve write songs so maybe The Band might record some of their songs. Very Happy

Best Wishes

Susie

I will give any new album every chance, I'll put in the order now for my copy. So the Hollies missed chances with Allan & Carl, well that's life. Lets give the new songs a listen to first.

Warning bells ring when the likes of Rob Davis-type material is involved but I'll give it a listen when it comes out. Simply stunning that there were so many wasted years with quality vocalists such as Clarkey and Carl at the helm and this latest 'version' are releasing new material almost immediately. The coffers must be drying up... Shocked

Maybe they want to give the new line up a stamp of legitmacy by having actually recorded an album.

Well... wasn't Rob Davies the guitarist of Mud? So I'm pretty sure that he doesn't write only songs like Can't Get You Out Of My Head.
