Greetings all in Hollie-land,
After listening all this week to the excellent 'Radio Fun' - good god, what a great live band they were!! I had Beatles 'Live at the BBC' on also this week, there's no comparison, the Hollies were exceptional - the take of 'Somethings Got a Hold on Me' for example is absolutely exceptional, terrifically good. 'Nobody' with the wailing harmonica, 'So Lonely', 'Shake'...etc..etc..
I was so hungry for more, and after reading of more BBC stuff on bootlegs, I searched and found "The Hollies BBC Sessions" - 29 tracks, around 14 of those that were not on the 'Radio Fun' CD. However, sound is pretty dodgy throughout, on earlier tracks like "Stay" - sound from one channel, more or less white noise in the other. I read reviews from people saying the CD sounds great - have I got the wrong one?? Is there another BBC Sessions CD out there in good quality? |
