Yesterday Norwegian National Radio broadcast a half hour program presenting all vocalists in the long history of The Hollies.
You can hear it online here:

Thank you Knut.
I didn't know they asked Carl Wayne to join them before they asked Mikael Rickfors.
I wish Swedish radio would make programmes like this! |

Thank you for the link - I enjoyed the trip through the years! - but please can we have a translation of the words about half way through the programme where Carl is mentioned for the first time? |

Hi Emily!
They say, that at the end of 1971, when Allan wanted to make a solo record, and members of the Hollies told him he couldn't make solo records and still be in the Hollies, he left the group.
"The bass player is one of them who thinks that this is the end of the Hollies, but Tony Hicks comes up with the idea to ask Carl Wayne, who used to be the singer with the Move, who had hits like Flowers In The Rain and Blackberry Way, to join them." Carl politely said no, "I have my own solo career, so thank you but no thank you".
And then they talk about Mikael Rickfors, and mention many times, that he was a great singer, but had a very Swedish accent. |

Thank you Agneta! I didn't know that Carl had been asked to join the band nearly 30 years before he became a member when Allan retired. |

But what they did not say, was that when Carl Wayne joined, Peter Howarth was asked first!!!! |
