The Hollies in Norway was a massive success! I was at the concert in Bergen and the boys were at their top! The concerts are devloping, now itīs more a mix of concert and a show. Especially Peter and Tony are outstanding entertainers. 10 years ago I felt that the group wasnīt comfortable when talking to the audience. Now they really are!

But most important: the musical perfomance is even stronger than some years ago. Impressing!

If you didnīt know: Knut has made a fantastic job to arrange the Norway-tour this time again! Knut must be the greatest Hollies-fan in the World (in tough competition)!!

Would you believe the Hollies had power to stay by evolution of their style from Buddy Holly ? That's for certain because they follow what goes around, write on and go out on the road. They did it then, they do it now - please do it always.

thank you so much, Knut!
a pretty rough translation for us english-speaking fans:

Nice reunion with old time heroes

There are more than 40 years since The Hollies last had a tune on the charts in this country, and 27 years ago they were in Bergen. But that rock band from Manchester still has its fans, was a sold-out house in the Hall Saturday night a clear proof.

Unlike many other pop stars of the past who shows up at the concert scenes in these times, the Hollies never been dissolved. Members have come and gone, but the band still toured diligently the past 50 years and managed to keep both expression and identity. Now one always - often with good reason - criticize Hollies for failure to renew. But it's better to stick solid in the past, but to be among the many pathetic unsuccessfully tries to renew itself.

It was the 60th century was the British decades in this country. Nine single plates had the charts between 1963 and 69 Five albums also visited LP list, but it is 42 years since the last. Since then Hollies largely concentrated on keeping the 60s alive. For this is what the public wants. Know this band. The audience does not bother with much new material just to know that they are included in the class. Certainly, the band came out with a fresh album in 2006, the first in 23 years, but it is only a small brackets this evening.

It is in fact the old hit songs in a row. It starts with "The Day That Curly Billy Shot Down Crazy Sam McGee" followed by "I Can not Let Go" and "Jennifer Eccless". Guitarist Tony Hicks (67) and drummer Bobby Elliot (71) has been with since 1963, but the rest of the band, guitarist Steve Lauri (59), bassist Ray Stiles (66) and Ian Parker (59) behind the keyboard is no novice in subject.

It seems indeed at times surprisingly resilient. Lead singer Peter Howarth (52) struggling albeit a few times, but getting good help from both Hicks and Lauri who takes over the role of singers occasionally. The shimmering four-part harmony vocal harmonies combined with catchy pop songs still have the ability to excite the audience.

Like so many other bands that have been doing for a while, also Hollies eternal dilemma. Stay as close as possible to the original sound and the original writ, or show that the band has followed up with the times and developed and updated tracks to the current expression? Whichever solution one arrives at - there is always someone who will be disappointed.

It must be admitted that it worked best when the band is not trying to be timely, but kept to the old sound. Something fortunately did most of the time. For guitar duels and taped synth dress them badly.

The concert was divided into two, with a break midway. The band changed outfits during the break - from popbandkostyme anno 1965 white shirts and ties for t-shirts - did not affect the special expression. But when vocalist Peter Howarth explains that The Hollies never been about individuals, but the melodies and vocal harmonies the special, it is still a bit wrong to perform "I Can not Tell The Bottom From The Top" alone on stage with a guitar.

Although the band mostly served a clean hit parade, was the first with the Creedence-ish "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" that there was some life in the saddle. As fans stood up, clapped the beat and singing along. With prunes "Carrie Anne", "Stop! Stop! Stop, "and especially" He Is not Heavy, He's My Brother, "the atmosphere was finally on top. And "The Air That I Breathe" which strangely enough never was a big hit in Norway, leaving the audience to the memories of the last song on stril dance anno 1974.

Will there be another visit when the band turns 60 in ten years? It would not strictly astonish some
