I've just arrived back from Torquay. I spent a couple of days there after seeing The Hollies on Sunday night. What a great night! There wasn't too much mentioned of the 50 years, they never like to 'shout things from the rooftop', I've realised, far too modest.
There is a new tour programme with great photos and at the back an A-Z of every Hollies song ever released, when, and where. I was bored yesterday afternoon and counted 384 songs in total (don't quote me on it!)
Anyway back to the concert which began with Curly Billy. which got the audience in an upbeat mood. Very Last Day and Stewball were kept in and Then, Now, Always (Dolphin Days) was back with Tony singing the lead. King Midas was the best I had heard it, I thought. Peter did his brilliant acoustic versions of Sandy and Can't Tell the Bottom etc..
The newer versions of On A Carousel and Look Through Any Window were kept.
The second half started with I'm Alive. After Weakness (which always gets good applause), Peter mentioned about an aisle going down the middle of the audience, which was off putting for him. I couldn't see it as I was on one side, opposite Tony. Tony said if it was that bad why didn't he stand on either side rather than in the middle. Peter said it would be good for dancing in, say no more!! Just One Look was next and people got up and were dancing in the middle aisle, not to be outdone, other people to the side (including me, of course!!) got up to dance as well. We carried on dancing to Stay, LCW, Carrie Anne, all singing at the top of our voices, then the brilliant Stop Stop Stop. Fantastic!! Heavy was next and Air, all waving our arms in the air. They ended with Let Love Pass. Thanks guys! what a fantastic time I had Very Happy

I certainly hope you do get to sing and dance at a Hollies concert Sass! If I wanted to celebrate a 50th anniversary, or any other celebration, that would be the way to do it for me! Razz Unfortunately, no news of any other dates yet.

I was at Nottingham, with my daughter. She realised she's been going for 25 years! It was also the first concert for my 6 year old grand daughter, Holly. What a show it was. In all the time I've been to their shows in Nottingham I've never seen the audience so excited and animated. It was great, the Band was fantastic, as was the lighting. The atmosphere was electric. You missed a great show. Holly really enjoyed it, I hope they keep going for a while yet so she can see more.

I am the newest registered user at the moment! I would like to add a comment
about the atmosphere at the Nottingham Concert. Peter joked that we were such a good audience that they wished they could come back the next day!
PLEASE can we celebrate 50 years of Hollies' music by being able to buy an audio CD of songs performed at concerts since Peter and Steve joined the band!
