Can anyone give me the best achievements in the New Musical Express chart points yearly tables and the best in the NME polls? |

Hi Knut
I may be wrong but I seem to remember that in the 1966 NME polls, the Hollies were runners-up to the Beatles in the best group category, overtaking the Rolling Stones. This was their highest position. |

That's what my memory told me, but I would like to see it confirmed. Anyone who has kept these music papers? I was forced to give away mine, my wife thought I was storing too much. A scan would be very welcome. |

When you find it would you please post it here? I would like to see that myself. I can't believe it is not online already. The NME sight just list the winners but no other details. |

On the NME site for award I fear that the Stones came second - look here:
It seems the Hollies came 3rd British vocal group in 1967:
There was another chart, not based on votes, but chart positions. I believe the Hollies may have beaten the Stones chartwise one of these years. |

I saw that on there but I didn't think it was readable. After changing my monitor and putting on reading glasses I can agree with your assessment. Wow! Talk about reading the fine print. |
