Try this little Christmas competition - see if you can can work it out.
Please email your answers to not by private message or on the forum. Please make sure to give your name and address in the email.
The winner will get a signed copy of Bobby Elliott's photo collection, Through The Ages - Vol 1 with a photo of Allan, Graham and Tony in their Speedos on the cover, taken by Bob in 1966,
Each page will have a personally handwritten photo description by Bob.
Here are the questions:-
In 1963, whilst onstage at the Liverpool Cavern, Allan and Graham were teasing 17 year old Tony about him being so young.
They jokingly suggested that he sing a certain children's nursery rhyme. What is the nursery rhyme?
That story was the inspiration behind Bob's chosen few words from that nursery rhyme that became the title for a Hollies album. What is the title of the album?
The winner will be selected at random from the correct entries received by Friday, January 6th 2012.
Good luck to all. |

The answer to the Teaser is the nursery rhyme "Teddy Bears' Picnic"
If you go down in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go down in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
So the album is "For Certain Because"
And the winner is...................................................
John Truman from Cambridgeshire, UK.
Well done John, the book will come direct from Bobby Elliott. |

Wow, what a start to the year!
I remember listening to Uncle Mac's Childrens Favoutites on the radio as a young lad in the late 50s/early 60s and Teddy Bears Picnic was one of the most played songs at that time. Funny how things like that stick in your memory!
Many thanks to Rob and Bobby for organising the competition and thanks An, Sass E Frass and Anthony for your kind words.
I'm really looking forward to receiving the book from Bobby.
And roll on the 50th anniversary Tour! |
