Pending European & North American government approval, Universal Music will buy EMI's recorded music division(Sony & BMG will buy EMI's song publishing companies).

As for EMI under its' new owners, what will this mean for the future of Hollies CD product, and EMI classic rock archive product in general?

As for whatever unreleased 1963-1968 tracks weren't included in "The Clarke, Hicks & Nash Years", I would guess that it is because the tapes don't exist, or because the 1963-1968 group members wouldn't permit the release of these songs.

In the recent DVD "The Hollies-Look Through Any Window", Allan Clarke almost disowns the music that the group made with Terry Sylvester, so a box set covering the 1969-1980 years is unlikely.

Update: Nearly all of EMI/UK's back catalog(excepting the Beatles recordings & the "Virgin Records" catalog) will be sold to "Warner Music Group", a division of "Access Industries", a company owned by Russian-born billionaire Len Blavatnik.

Universal Music, which purchased EMI, is required by EU regulators to sell off "The Parlophone Label Group"(excepting The Beatles recordings) "The Parlophone Label Group" includes the EMI, Chrysalis, Parlophone, Harvest labels and the recordings that appeared on now-defunct labels such as EMI/Columbia & EMI/HMV. Warner Music Group is also taking over EMI's Western & Eastern European local labels.

In the end, the only parts of EMI which Universal Music are going to keep are The Beatles Recordings, The Virgin Label(excepting Classical recordings) and Capitol Records & its subsidiaries(Liberty, UA Records, Blue Note etc.")

If EU & U.S.A. regulators approve Warner's purchase of Parlophone Music Group, the deal will be finalized by mid-2013.

As for what this means for Hollies fans, Warner Music group will become the owner of the 1963-65 Hollies recordings, and they will inherit EMI's existing license on recordings owned by "The Hollies Ltd."(the recordings from "For Certain Because" onwards)
