Hi
I am after a bit of advice if possible.
I am looking to maybe get the 70s Hollies studio albums on CD. The albums would be (by my reckoning):
# Confessions Of The Mind — 1970
# Distant Light — 1971
# Romany — 1972
# Out On The Road — 1973
# Hollies — 1974
# Another Night — 1975
# Write On — 1976
# Russian Roulette — 1976
# A Crazy Steal —1978
# 5317704 — 1979
I have all of these on LP except for COTM and Out On The Road, but I'd love to have them on CD (in particular Write On and Russian Roulette).
The three bolded albums have been reissued by EMI with bonus tracks - so I will be getting them for sure!
I have had a look around and found that all the remaining albums seem to be out on CD, most of them with bonus tracks, but they are not English releases, rather of European origin (mainly French). (The exception seeming to be Distant Light and COTM, released in the late 90s, and several of albums which were part of the "Originals" box sets - but these releases did not contain bonus tracks).
So I am wondering if I should buy the import CDs? Or should I sit back and hope that EMI themselves release more of them on CD? My concern is the quality of the CD recording, in my looking around there seemed to be comments suggesting some inconsistency in this area.
Anyway, any advice would be appreciated. |
