I've just heard the sad news that Dave Dee has died following a 3-year battle against cancer.
DDDBM&T were one of my favourite groups of the 60's and they were still touring until recently.
In fact, only Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich were at the Antwerp concert in December and I remember Tich saying that Dave had been taken to hospital that morning.
A sad loss. RIP Dave. |

Yes, just heard the bad news too.
DDDBM&T were to play with The Hollies in Antwerp back in December but, as I understand it, Dave Dee was not allowed to fly out by the rest of the band and sent home to rest because he was so unwell at the time.
The band still did the gig and went down well.

I heard about this sad news earlier. Dave Dee was one of the nicest men in the music industry, incredibly smart with a wicked sense of humour. His brilliant vocals and charming disposition were an assett to DDDBMT-He will be sadly missed-Rest In Peace Dave-Carrie Anne x |

I was sorry to read about Dave Dee.
Thanks for the link, Rob.
DD,D,B,M & T had many hits in Sweden too, and I liked their happy music. I saw Dave Dee once in Gothenburg, in 1970, performing as a solo artist, together with the Swedish rock singer Jerry Williams. (I made a comment in my diary that he was tall, and more handsome than I had thought.) He sang Got To Get You Into My Life, Hideaway, Legend Of Xanadu, Zabadak and Bend It, among other songs.
I’ve still got some photos, and his autograph.
Recently, I saw an interview with him, made for the Swedish television series “Sixties”, and some clips from old and more recent performances. He said that he still enjoyed performing, and that they had a motto: “Don’t quit while you’re ahead!” He seemed such a nice guy. RIP Dave.

Thanks for that info, Agneta! I have read that DDDBM&T were capable of much more varied music than what can be thought listening to their hits only. Anyway their hits certainly were catchy. It is sad that so many good acts lose important members. A friend of mine, who has written the Norwegian Pop and rock Encyclopaedia, Jon Vidar Bergan, recently reminded me that Hollies must be the only major 60's group with all original members still alive. Can anyone correct me? |

Yes he died as early as 1994 . I can think of Hollies, Kinks, Spencer Davis Group, Manfred Mann, Marmalade and Cream (surprisingly). |
