Bright Eyes surely must be one of the most beautiful, poignant songs ever written. A true classic in every sense.
I'd go as far as to say that anyone who has ever lost someone close to them cannot fail to be moved by this song. |
It does bring a lump to the old throat everytime . |

YouŽll find this lovely song recorded by Sir Elton on Elton John Chartbusters Go Pop (Delta records).
ThereŽs a lot of early Elton-recordings and interpretations, f.ex. My baby loves lovinŽ (org White Plains), Cottonfields (org. Beach Boys), Lady DŽArbanville (Cat Stvens) United we stand (Brotherhood of Man), TravellinŽ band (Creedence), Neanderthal man Hotlegs, Dave Edmunds), Spirit in the sky (Norman Greenbaum), Yellow river (Christie), etc. |

In my opinion, Elton's vocal performance isn't nearly as good as Allan's original vocal.
But why should I be surprised? Elton John was a much better vocalist in the late seventies than he was on his first couple of LP's. |
